Realeased 2/19/2008
Installed on: 3/4/2008 7:30 pm

The following issues and enhancements have been applied to ProgressBook Web v7.1/Parent Access 3.2 / DB version 1303.1

New reference and procedural information for the new curriculum director role and system manager users has been added to ProgressBook WebHelp v7.1, in addition to updated help topics for teachers.

The following issues have been addressed in this release:

Administrative Issues

For school districts that integrate with the DASL student information system, external student status codes imported from the student information system are supported in ProgressBook.

For school districts that integrate with the DASL student information system, ProgressBook has been updated to read live daily attendance for the Potential Skip Report and as a result the report can only be run for a single day.

For school districts that integrate with the Tenex, CIMS, and ADM2000 student information systems, report card marks for prior grading periods are saved.

The error in reconciling multiple attendance records for a student for one day on the Update Absence Info window no longer occurs.

For school districts that integrate with student information systems that support live attendance integration, attendance is read live from the student information system and displays on the Attendance section of the Student tab on the Parent Access Web Site.

Teacher Issues

Grouped classes display on the Student Progress Report even if the individual classes included in the group are hidden.

The assignment weight displays on the Student Progress Report if the weight is greater than 1.

On the Lesson Plan report, lesson plans are now sorted by the date taught and not by the date the lesson plan was created.

The Content Taught (Listing taught standards) and Content Taught (Listing all standards) Lesson Plan reports display the correct number of days taught.

Administrative Enhancements

The Curriculum Director role has been added to ProgressBook and enables users logged in as this role to perform the following tasks:

·         Create and maintain academic standards series and all its components

·         Create and search for lesson plans

·         Set up lesson plan sharing

·         Run lesson plan reports

·         Create and maintain grading scales

·         Update email address

·         Change password

The Curriculum Director option is available in the System Role list on the Update Staff screen and displays on the Staff screen when the role is assigned to a user.

Academic standards logic and database structure has been enhanced to provide school districts with the ability to set up and customize their own copies of academic standards. The following enhancements have been added.

·         Create and maintain customized academic standards series

·         Copy existing academic standards series

·         Activate and deactivate academic standards series and its associated content areas and standards components

·         Delete academic standards series and its associated grade bands, content areas, component types, and standards components

A Next button has been added to the custom sort view on the Absence Queue and Add Students to List screens if the search results in more rows than is selected to display.

The Parent Access Extract has been enhanced to include the user’s email address and to exclude inactive students. All selection criteria to run the extract displays on one screen.

The Teacher Roster Setup option on the Feature Selection screen has been changed to Teacher Roster Setup for All Courses. This wording change clarifies the scope of the option when selected.

An Allow Teacher Roster Updates option has been added to the Update Course window, which when enabled for an individual course, allows teachers to update the class roster in any classes associated with that course, even if the Teacher Roster Setup for All Courses feature is not turned on.

The Term/Period column no longer displays on the Report Card Entry Dates by School screen. This column has been replaced by the Parent Access Publish Date column. Cross reference settings are now only accessed on the Period Cross Reference screen.

Depending on the student information system your school district is integrated with, multiple Term/Period columns may display on the Period Cross Reference screen.

The maximum length of staff login names has been increased to 100 characters.

The All Grade Levels option has been removed from the Select a Grade Level area of the Student Progress Report for users logged in as Master, Admin, Principal and Guidance to prevent the report from not running because of size.

Teacher Enhancements

The Exclude Lowest Marks option has been added to ProgressBook. Progressbook Release Web 7.0.1
DB Version 1301.1
Installed 9/10/2007 9:15 am

The following issues have been addressed in this release:

Administrative Issues

The PBBackOfficeImport has been changed to keep students that have been hidden by a teacher from being unhidden when the job runs again.

The Parent Access Account Creation page could error when run if there was an existing space in the login name or password of an existing account. We have made a temporary change so that the page will no longer show an error about a duplicate login and will allow the accounts to be created successfully. A more permanent fix will be included in a future release to address the issues with users entering spaces.

A fix is included in this release to merge courses that came over into ProgressBook with new GUID’s this year after the rollover causing invalid course groups on elementary report cards. The included fix will merge the two courses, keep the course that is attached to the classes, and remove the duplicate.

This will correct the issue with the report card entry screen not showing assessments correctly, and this will also correct the students averages showing as a ‘?’ on the dashboard. After the script has run, a gradebook recalculation may be necessary.

Academic Standards Update

The Ohio Academic Standards have been updated in ProgressBook Web version 7.0. With this update, improvements have been made to the way ProgressBook displays academic standards for Lesson Plans and Assignments. In addition, corrections were made to the hierarchy of some indicators.

In previous ProgressBook versions, certain indicators were split into multiple hierarchies where they should have been grouped as one. As shown in the example below, the A.01 indicator was split with selection boxes for each item listed in the indicator.

S06.

Citizenship Rights and Responsibilities

A.

Evaluate various means for citizens to take action on a particular issue. (11-12)

01.

Practice forms of civic discussion and participation consistent with the ideals of citizens of a democratic republic: (12)

01.

Persuasive speech; (12)

01.

Panel discussion; (12)

01.

Debate. (12)

With the updates made in ProgressBook 7.0, this hierarchy is now represented as one indicator with one selection box as shown below.

S06.

Citizenship Rights and Responsibilities

A.

Evaluate various means for citizens to take action on a particular issue. (11-12)

01.

Practice forms of civic discussion and participation consistent with the ideals of citizens of a democratic republic: (12)

a.       Persuasive speech; (12)

b.       Panel discussion; (12)

c.       Debate. (12)

With this structure, teachers will now select the indicator and all list items will be included as a single indicator.

Because of the potential for partial indicators to be attached to previous year Lesson Plans and Assignments that teachers have created, we have provided a script that will fix these selections by replacing them with the entire indicator.

The Add Standards window has been updated to display the Fine Arts standards and indicators for the 2006/2007 school year and earlier with the prefix (OLD) in front of the subject. All Fine Arts standards and indicators used in previous school years are still maintained in the system, and they have been labeled to distinguish previous year’s standards from current standards. Fine Arts standards and indicators for the 2007/2008 school year are not preceded by a prefix as seen below.
